The Library of the College of Europe at Natolin was created in April 1993. Within a few years it had become highly-respected as an important centre for the provision of a wide range of information resources on European issues.
The Natolin Library’s principal functions are gathering, describing, managing and enabling access to Library resources and academic materials which support the academic programme of the College, while at the same time various other information activities are carried out.
Providing a service for students, researchers and professors of the College, the Library collects monographs, serials and other documents in fields related to the academic programmes of the College, which at Natolin are focused on European law, economics, international relations, political sciences and contemporary history, with particular attention placed on enlargement of the EU, political and economic transformation in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and wider Europe.
The Library has also the status of European Documentation Centre, official publications of the European Union in electronic version can be found in the Library catalogue.
Quick and effective bibliographic research is ensured through the EuroVoc thesaurus used to classify materials in all collections held by the Library. EuroVoc descriptors are provided in English, French and Polish.
A strong emphasis is placed on the development of electronic information resources. The Library offers access to Internet, computer catalogues and various data-bases. It also provides a very well equipped computer room offering full scale Internet and e-mail services to students of the College.
The premises of the Library are located on two levels of an almost one hundred year old stable building which is listed as a historic monument, and which is a part of the palace and park complex of Natolin managed by the European Centre Natolin.
